In beauty salons, there is a high risk of transmitting infections with all pathogenic microorganisms - fungi, blood-borne viruses, parasites, etc.
Beauty salon - despite the fact that it is a place to take care of the aesthetics of the external appearance - should be treated in this respect on an equal footing with a treatment room. In a beauty salon, there may be a violation of tissue continuity, contact with body fluids. Even micro damages, cuts, abrasions can cause infections.
All this makes the beauty salon subject to statutory sanitary and technical as well as sanitary and order guidelines. Supervision over beauty salons is exercised by the State Sanitary Inspection, while ongoing supervision and intervention is the task of poviat sanitary and epidemiological stations.
What is worth knowing before opening a beauty salon?
The opening of the salon requires each time the sanitary inspection. You must first submit an application to the Provincial Sanitary Inspectorate at least 2 weeks before the start of business. The sanepid inspection may be announced - by setting the date of the inspection in writing, or it may be of an unexpected, intervention nature.
Starting a cosmetic business and obtaining the sanepid's approval also means having the appropriate documents, such as: ownership or use of the premises, chimney sweep and ventilation acceptance protocols, technical acceptance protocols, e.g. health records of all employees of the salon and others.
It is also very important - from the point of view of the Sanitary Inspectorate - to have separate places for specific functionalities. And so, a beauty salon should have a separate place for: performing treatments, storing clothes, storing tools and materials, kitchen facilities, social room, bathroom.
What are the requirements of the Sanitary Inspectorate for a beauty salon in terms of disinfection and sterilization processes?
In beauty salons, all reusable accessories should undergo sterilization processes. The best and most effective method of sterilization in this regard is steam sterilization in excess pressure. It is performed in autoclave devices. The beauty salon should have an autoclave. There is no obligation to register it with the sanepid, but it is worth notifying this authority about its purchase and performing all the appropriate tests recommended by the sanepid.
A beauty salon is required to document and archive the results of sterilization processes. In this regard, autoclave printouts, physical tests of packet color changes, chemical tests for each packet, as well as appropriate biological tests - performed at specific time intervals, should be used.
